Starda is situated in the Monteluco woods, in the mountains of Chianti,
and for that reason it is not well known as it is out of the usual touristic
way. In ancient times there were probably two churches and a castle owned by
Lord Guido Guerra. Not far from Starda we can admire Nusenna on the way from
Castagnoli to Mercatale Valdarno. The village probably is of Etruscan origin.
Near Nusenna we find S. Martino di Castagnoli, an ancient village of Medieval
origin. S. Vincenti with its Parish is situated in the surroundings of
Castagnoli.
