Small Towns of Chianti

Greve

Greve is a typical example of medieval urban planning. It was built around an ancient castle dating back to the 11th century and has an asymmetrical square typical of Tuscan market-places. Greve owes its development to commercial activities as it hosted a weekly market. The church of S. Croce houses many interesting art works, including a Madonna by a follower of Beato Angelico, and a triptych by Bicci di Lorenzo.
